 Pouet zx additions

One of the advantages of this new website is that I can write news while I'm at work. Handy.
I was just checking through the new 10th birthday issue of PC Zone, and I happened across some news of a forthcoming game from the brothers Gollop. I've already mentioned Laser Squad Nemesis, a play-by-email game based on the ZX classic. Well it seems there's soon going to be a single-player version released, titled "Laser Squad Nemesis: Earth". The 'zine has some screenshots and it's looking rather lovely. Okay, so it won't run on a ZX (or even a Sprinter), but I think it's worth giving space to here. After all, it's gotta be the ultimate retro remake!!

The image of VGA convertor for Sprinter is available at Peters Plus. You can see the second experimental copy of VGA convertor. It's the base for a convertor being released next month. Check out more detailed info in the Sprinter forum.

Peters Plus have just released the latest version of the Sprinter Disk SubSystem, which you can use if you're running with the SP2000 mainboard and BIOS v3.xx. I won't go through the whole list of enhancements, as you can find them all in the press release, but it's always nice to have the newest stuff. What's that old saying? "If it ain't broke, tweak it."
Actually, this new version does include some fixes, but it's still a good saying.

Looking at the latest issue of RetroMart sees the first of the semi-finals in the "which retro machine kicks ass" contest. The combatants today are our own ZX vs the Amstrad CPC. Some interesting arguments either way, go read it all up.

If you're yearning for more, newer emulator releases then you've come to the right place. A slight slow-down in the development cycle (hey, it's been a week since the last version) sees ZX-Emul reaching version 0.14b.

According to a post on the WOS forums, issue #2 of ZX Digest will be finished towards the end of March. Due to the number of contributors this issue will be boosted to a healthy 25-30 pages. As mentioned on the forum post, subscription details can be found on the (rather basic) website. Hey, it has the information you need.

I didn't even know this project was in progress until I spotted it mentioned on Peek-n-Poke, the "retro" magazine. The project in question is aiming to re-write Castlevania on the ZX. Looks like it's going ok for the moment. Hmm.

Well not quite an update to DSP, one of the newest additions to the emulator catalogue, but a fixed download. To quote the news page "A stupid bud make me forget to include libraries SDL.DLL and UNZDLL.DLL in emu ZIP. Have been solved."
Hmm... wonder if he means a bottle of Bud? Hehe.

Just a little note to mention that for the moment Scentre seems to have disappeared. Looks like someone forgot to pay their ISP. Ahem.
