By my calculations there's only about a week left of the raww.net server, then it will be switched off (note - raww.org has already moved to a new server). I've already emailed the people who are still using the raww.net hosting, but I thought I should add something here in case my email is removed by spam-filters.
If you are still using raww.net hosting and haven't arranged a new host, you could check out untergrund.net, a free host of demoscene sites. It's where Demotopia has moved to. In fact, Demotopia is in the top10 hosted sites there - coo. There's also Planet-D, who provide free demoscene hosting, and have a rather nice logo (IMO). I'm going to download everything from raww.net before it's switched off, so I should be able to provide backups of sites if they're needed. I'll even help to upload to new hosts if that's a problem (some sites have lots (and lots) of files).
It's a shame that the server has to go, but as I've said before I don't have the time or resources to keep it running. And it's a slow old thing anyway. Hopefully all hosted sites will find a new home quickly.

Not fully Speccy related but just to let you know that DrBeer.org is now up and running.

For those of you who don't know, this is a little spin-off from the Raww.Meet that we had back in October last year. Pictures of Raww.Meet can be found in the recent pages.

For those of you who've been hiding away for the last couple weeks (or perhaps you're just not someone who celebrates it), it's just been Christmas (and it's now 2006). During my time off of work I've not been looking at the WOS forums, and so I failed to notice that fogartylee et al have unleashed the second issue of ZX-Shed onto a slightly suspecting public. It's a 74-page 8.7Mb PDF download-a-zine, and tho' I've not looked at it yet it's had some good write-ups in the forums. So, check it out - the direct download link is here.

Just the ticket for people who want their daily fix of Speccy goodness without those other PC applications getting in the way, ZxWiLL and GEYB's ZX-LiveBox is a Spectrum-oriented live CD based on Knoppix, allowing you to boot into a Linux environment offering the Fuse Spectrum emulator, AYlet music player, all issues of ZXF magazine and a whole load of demos (but, oddly, no games yet - they're being extra cautious with copyright) - all without touching your PC's hard disk at all. Now you have no excuse for not trying out Fuse!

The Speccy has emerged victorious in the last demo party of 2005, The Ultimate Meeting held in Karlsruhe-Durlach, Germany. Haiku by Gasman / Hooy-Program was entered in the oldskool 4K intro competition but due to lack of entries was moved to the oldskool demo competition, where it reached first place out of three entries.

Just to make sure this won't stay unnoticed - approximately a month ago, Rudy Biesma has released a DISCiPLE/+D emulator for divIDE interface, wittily named +DivIDE. It's an adaptation of the GDOS/G+DOS system found in the DISCiPLE/+D disk interfaces and it should work with all DISCiPLE and +D software which doesn't call routines in GDOS/G+DOS ROM directly. It works with virtual disks stored on ATA device, 1600 sectors each.

While randomly surfing around during a coffee break I spotted that DJH has uploaded the latest release of Turtles Dreams. At v2.2, this is a list of all the ZX work released at demoparties since... well, a long time ago. Pick a party that's occurred in 2005 and it'll be listed so you can see exactly what was released and by whom. A nice project by ra.id of Mayhem - it's surprising just how much stuff there is.

I'm sure you've all seen this already, but as I'm still in a major catch-up mode...
Hey, there's a new version of UnrealSpeccy! What's more, it's a proper SourceForge Open Source project now, meaning there's an easy way to find the latest version (it's actually been registered on SF for ages). Version 0.33b is available for download at the homepage, and it's well worth the effort if you can get it ('tis but a couple hundred Kb, but I'm at work and can't download .rar files - whuh!?). Luckily despite me not being able to download it where I am (trust me, it's not a downloads problem, it's the company direwall), SF provides the latest release notes. There's a few nice additions which I'll let you go read about yourself.
Now I just need to send myself an email to remind me to download it when I get home.
