I thought I'd do a quick post, just before heading out to the pub. I need it.
So yes, if you head over to the ZX-Emul page you'll find the download link for the latest version, cleverly numbered "0.11b". Oh, you want to know the changes? As well as some "port" stuff (#FE and #FF emulation things), the sound engine has been optimised. And also, this is the first release of VG93 emulation. Hmm.

Not entirely on-topic, but fans of Sir Clive might be interested to know about the Great Bespectacled One's latest invention. The new gadget, available from Sinclair Research, works on the same principle as his ZETA bike accessory to give wheelchair users a helping hand. It's the result of 5 years of development, and amazingly it doesn't have any Zs or Xs in the name.

Only a couple things in the news these last couple days. I guess that most sceners are working on their entries to the upcoming Forever party. Well there's some news on the BMP2SCR front, tho' it's sadly not a new release just yet, but some information on the development of the next version. .AVI conversion has been optimised allowing a rate of 4fps. The homepage has also been updated with a bunch of new images to show off the various conversion modes.

Quick apology to anyone who was looking at the site in the last, ooh, 20 minutes. I had to make a few changes to the server, and a couple reboots, and guess what... I killed part of the webpage! It's back up for now, but I'll be making more modifications in the next few days, to try and fix it properly this time. Ahem.
Sorry again.

I'm sure it's just my imagination, but there appears to be a lot in the "news" recently about the Sprinter. More about this machine than anything else. Not that I'm complaining, as I think it's good to get the machine recognised. Soon I'll be ordering one myself, I think.
Anyway, I've just seen that there's a new program called the CMOS Utility posted on the Peters Plus website. It allows you to edit the RTC/CMOS chip's memory. So, I guess it means you can... erm... change the time!? Hehe. Okay, there's more to it than that. Another tool to add to your Sprinter library.

Okay, this is one for the ultra-geek. Yes, I'm talking to you!
The latest update on that Peters Plus webpage is a download of the Sprinter Schematics. Now I've seen diagrams like these before, at work... and I never understood them then. This time is no different. But if wiring diagrams and images of chips is what "floats your boat", then head on over and download the .PDF.

I see from a couple places (WOS and the Optical Brothers' homepage, to name but two) that the emulator ZX-Emul has been updated to version 0.10b.

If you check out the X-Board right now you'll see a big debate over, basically, the future of the ZX. It's all been sparked off by the Sprinter and it's potential as the next Z80-based demo platform. There are some interesting discussions/arguments for and against the Sprinter, or other future clones. Comment has been made on current "DIY" solutions to the fact that there's no longer any ZX being produced.

Not really sure how long this has been online, it was highlighted in a post from the X-Board. There's a place you can go to sign up for the Forever party which is taking place... ooh, very soon indeed. About one month's time in fact, mid-march. Actually I did know about this page, but it's always good to advertise it some more.
So if you're thinking of going along, then go sign up.

There's been an update to the Official z80 Support page, adding a single link to "Steve's Electronic Stuff" (aka "Electronics-a-Go-Go"). Not quite ZX-related, but the site does detail his Z80 projects, which could be of some interest to the budding hardware h4x0r.
