It's time for the latest in our series of "
ZX-Emul has been updated" articles. This time we see the release of v0.16b of the ever-developing emulator.

In a very (
very) concise email, Vladimyr Anshukov let me know that the Paradigmus 2003 demoparty is being held in June this year. Only a few months away. For details, write to
dmitimd. I'll get the info shortly, and post what I know on this site. Yes.

I just noticed that for once, the "activity percentile" (sic) for the
aSpectrum page over on
SourceForge hasn't decreased. In fact, it's gone up, along with the latest version number. Yes another emulator has had a version upgrade, this one up to v0.1.6.2.
Details are... not immediately clear. But you know my theory of "always upgrade". At least with an emulator it's not a definate path to disaster (unlike upgrading to beta drivers for your graphics card - Doh!).

If you have access to BBC2 programs then on Saturday evening at 8:00 is a series "Designing the Decades" which looks at British design through each decade. Last night was the 70s and
there was a feature on calculators and the Black Watch. Shown were archive footage of Willis Road HQ and a recent interview describing how the Sinclair Executive evolved.
Architect Norman Foster appeared in both the 60s and 70s so although it wasn't trailered my money is on Sir Clive being back next week with the Spectrum and others when the program looks at the Eighties.

Never heard of
DithvIDE? If not, make sure you check out the brand new release of Zilog's image converter which was first presented at
Forever 4 party. DithvIDE scans JPEGs and produces ZX videoram images to be displayed in interlaced mode. The quality is amazing and unpreceeded. It all comes as a friendly X-Window utility along with source code. Anyone wishes to port it to other platforms? ;]
Note: Thanks to all who sent the zip-file. Not sure why zilog removed it from his site. Check out zoom's webpage - you can get the source, a *nix binary and a bunch of samples.

Yep, a new version of this neat graphics-editing tool. This new version can rotate graphics (90 degrees, not related to previous rotation/shift capacities).
As usual, you can pick it from here:

Got a problem? Get out yer soldering iron and crack away.
A few days ago, Andy Dansby provided
WOS with a bunch of service manuals for the ZX Spectrum, ZX Microdrive/IF1/IF2, ZX Printer, and ZX81. Could be very handy if the old fella breaks down on you. Of course it's no use to me -- as soon as I get my hands on a soldering iron, blisters start to appear. Hmph.

Just checked out
Demotopia and the full results and a whole heap o' releases are available for the
Forever Quattro party held in the last couple days. There's not much more to say on this really. Tho' as Yerzmyey said in his email, it perhaps proves that using a new, non-standard graphics format doesn't really help win competitions. Hehe.

Just a quick note to mention that I've been playing about with the server config, and this site will now be just
raww.org -- "news.raww.org" will kinda redirect. Sorry if this screws up your settings and things... I mean your cookies (like it did on my pc). The plan was always to do this eventually.
Sorry.
