If you live in Britain and watch
BBC Four you've perhaps noticed something about the film called
Micro Men (former Syntax Era). It's about rivalry on the British home computer scene of the early 80s, a fight of Clive Sinclair (Alexander Armstrong) and his former employee Chris Curry (Martin Freeman), founder of Acorn Computers. The rivalry comes to a head when the BBC announce their Computer Literacy Project, with the stated aim of putting a micro in every school in Britain. When Acorn wins the contract, Sinclair is furious, and determines to outsell the BBC Micro with his ZX Spectrum computer. A really
must for all Sinclair enthusiasts!

Lot of things happened since my last post at raww.org. Here are some of them...
Sinclair Club Plzen started its activity few months ago. It's situated in Plzen, Czech Republic and they have meetings every Tuesday. Last Friday there was an open day for everyone. Another club has been set in Bratislava, Slovakia. It's called
SinDiKat which means Sinclair a Didaktik - Klub Aktivych Technikov (Active Technics' Club). Photos of their last meeting are
here.

Quick congratulations to my good friend Hellboj, who evidently knows Yerzmyeys sister in the biblical sense, as they've just produced offspring, in the shape of
Hanna. I can say from experience that it's great to be a Dad. Congratulatory beer is in the post.

Sad news. Michal Ovcarov, known as
Triton of his own group
Spectravision, author of demos
Triton Mix 128,
Hypnotic World and
Unlimited Dream, as well as a never released (?) unique sample playing routine and some CBM's X-Tracker modifications, has died on 2.5.2009 in a motorbike accident. Our condolences to all who knew him.

About a year ago I reported on the news of a
Czech Sintech - Sintech being the lovely people who (
many years ago) sold me my delicious MB02+. At that time I hinted that there would be a UK shop coming soon - and now it's here:
sintech-shop.co.uk.
Good things: Prices in GBP, another place to buy ZX stuff (and so much more besides).
Bad things: I can't make a clever pun on the name
like I did before.

SPC (Spectrum & SAM Profi Club) Cologne was a bit quiet for longer than one year, after Wolfgang was unable to continue to edit the magazine. But now I decided to rebirth it, with regular publishing of the club magazine.
There is a new issue of the club magazine, partly english, mainly german, which was created and put online for free:

Just going through my emails from the last couple days and I spot one from Newart pointing me to his new site
ZXPress.ru - it's a library of e-zines and e-papers for the ZX, generally "made in Russia". The downloads are there for a few hundred issues of a variety of 'zines, along with a big collection of articles (around 2000!), in a slightly easier translatable format... that's to say, the ones I've looked at are text - hoorah!

One of the Russians speccyman (
AAA), collects the zx-spectrum demos, intros and other scene stuff. He needs assistance, or rather information about some sceners, such as where they live (country, city). Some information has already been collected, but will be glad of any assistance!
[edit: I've actually removed the list of people and I'm going to point you to a thread on Pouet where there's an ongoing info-seek:

There are many WWW sites dedicated to ZX Spectrum128K series.
However it is sad that Spectrum 48K seems to be forgotten. :( People sometimes even don't know that certain programs are made for ZX48K (like Sound-Tracker, Sample-Tracker, The Lyra II, Agony MegaDemo, Shock, and others).
It forced me to make a portal dedicated to ZX Spectrum 48K:
zxspectrum48.i-demo.pl
