Just uploaded the new Retro-X Alpha 7 to my website (http://lcd-one.da.ru come and get it or wait until it was updated on WOS). There are many many many improvements, bugfixes and additions in this release, so it took more time than previous releases. There is still a lot to do, so the next version will still be Alpha, but I think, the last alpha version. The Beta versions start probably 2009.
And now read the list of improvements:

Hehe. I forced Atarians (well, actually kindly suggested, like only I can do, hahaha) to try play our Spectrum BEEPER songs on their hardware. It should have worked because they also have 1-bit transducer (ours is ULA, theirs is GTIA - generating 'click' for keyboard).
And You know what? They did it!! ;) I mean - worx are in progress but engine from The Music Studio works already.
Here is like our music sounds from Atari XL/XE:

FACTOR6: http://www.ghnet.pl/~pin/atari_beep/beeporgy.mp3
Enjoy. ;)

Very quick pointer to an article on Rock, Paper, Shotgun about the ZX game Where Time Stood Still. Well, the ZX version is mentioned, at least.
Real news will commence sometime. Honest.

Yes, yes I've been slack with news posting, but hopefully you'll all know already that ASCiI 08 has become a virtual party. The party-proper was set for this weekend, and right about now I would normally be posting some results. Due to some "life issues" (I know the feeling) the part became online-only, and the deadline for entries into the competitions is just about hitting now. Or has hit. Or will hit later. These timezone differences make me all confuzzled.
Anyway, keep an eye out for the online voting information. I'm guessing watching Speccy Live will be your best bet for the moment.

Tired after last long night, here's a short note about the second AY Riders concert in history, which took part in Bunkr Parukarka underground club, Prague, Czech Republic. It was part of a /tmp project of uncommercial music art and visual projects from Czech Republic and Slovakia. The AY Riders' stage was full of audience and I think they liked the show very much, looking at some feedback at Speccy mailing conference and Twitter messages from Czech Spectrum freaks. More inside the article. I'll just put here a link to a little collection of photos taken by me at he show. Videos will be available soon. Many thanks must go to not only all the riders - Yerzmyey, Gasman, TDM, but also Hellboj, Jurek and of course Pinokio from Atari scene for big help as a mixer guy.

Update: More photos, this time by Hellboj, you can find here!
Update #2: Photos by Logout are here and a YouTube video over here.

Just spotted an email from Sergey Bulba mentioning the release of a new "experimental" version of AY-Emulator. It's experimental because it's been migrated from Delphi over to Lazarus, a free Delphi-compatible set of libraries for Free Pascal. Meaning it's much easier to play about with the code should you so wish. It also means that this superb tracker player is now available for Linux (tho' it says there's no sound - told you it was experimental).

I've got quite long email from Velesoft to the Czech Speccy mailing list at pandora.cz, where he describes his (and Hood's) new TR-DOS emulator for MB-02+ with MB-IDE. The whole project is tested in RealSpec emulator only at the moment, and is far from completation, but if you're curious enough, you can watch a short video to see how it works. The MB-02+ boots, then runs Prometheus with emulator source code, loads a screen$ from TR-DOS image, returns back to Prometheus and runs the code from the point where russian 128 menu is placed. Real disk drives aren't supported, the user will work with TRD images in four virtual disk drives. I hope the thing will be finished soon. So let's wait.

I found a very interesting Slovakian music album - PROJECT GAMA - made on ZX Spectrum (more precisely on Didaktik Gama 80Kb) with D/A soundcard attached, providing 3 channels of 8-bit digital sound. The music is here: http://gama.g-m.sk/

Very quick pointer to Gasmans latest "what shall I do with all my spare time" project... it's a Speccy emulator written in Javascript. Uhm. That's it for the news side of things... go play.
