Well, it's rather a
video made from tons of photos. Describes Logout's and sweet's journey to Forever9 party from the beginning to the end (with the familiar, yet abandoned, Shucon hut). Pressing pause button could help you if you get too much information in too short time :) The whole article with some extra
photos is
here.

It's been a couple of years since 8BC put the MB02+ schematics to the internet. They had been removed for some (for me) unknown reason after some time, though. If you're looking for the most complete documentation, schematics and manuals, try to look at
CI5's site. There are many docs for download, even an
all-in-one pack.

For some reason my monitoring of csmith's
Harlequin project seems a little bit, ehm, screwed. So it's just as well that he's just (about 40 minutes ago) posted a message on
WOS Forums about work on his replacement ULA, and attempts to get perfect timing. It's all very good hardware porn for all you soldering fanatics to enjoy, and something to scare pub landladies ("csmith set us up the bomb!"). I'm actually quite amused by the previous post on the
Harlequin website, where you can find details of getting the Harlequin to accurately show
ZX Snow (something I always thought was a bit odd to want to reproduce anyway). All good stuff, eh!?

I've mentioned
CCZ80 a
handful of times since the start of the year, but there have been a couple of release updates that I've not mentioned. But I think that v2.00 is worth a mention as it adds some quite nice features to the Scriptable Z80-generator. One of the most useful is the inclusion of a built-in Z80 Assembler, which will generate a binary from your source. Of course. I still think it's a nice idea, despite the lack of source and now the removal of a Linux build, which should greatly speed up simple development tasks.

Ben Versteeg, he of the
K-Mouse sales, has just announced a new project:
PC Keyboard Interface. The aim is to be able to use a PS/2 (or USB) keyboard on your dear little ZX Spectrum. I've always found this a bit odd (LaesQ has one, so I know what I'm talking about) - it makes finding things like Extend-Mode that much trickier. However, it's an admirable project, so if you're looking for a keyboard that isn't attached to the machine, allowing you to sit back in your armchair without risk of your peripherals dropping off (!!), then this could be for you.

If you're one of those crazy people who still do all of your development work on the ZX, rather than the much quicker (and discreet while at work) PC, then you'll no doubt be aware of the really quite nice text editor from
Alone Coder - AC Edit. Well I've just spotted a new version over on his website, which you may well want to download. I'm a little surprised there's not an updated system disc to go with it, but I'm sure that will be along shortly. Newness? No idea.

Shortly after the last release we have a new version of
SjASMPlus to download and play with. v1.07 RC7 brings with it, as well as the usual bugfixes and things, a new directive - IFUSED/IFNUSED, which in theory can allow you to make libraries. I'll have to look into that in more detail - while I'm downloading the new version.

I've got two issues with posting this bit of news. The first is that I'm never entirely sure where to post news of DivIDE firmwares so this new ISO image for Demfir is a tricky one to place. Secondly... I can't actually get to the website where I originally spotted the news, as it's been blocked from my current location. However, providing google has correctly delivered the goods you can find out some information about the new DISO v0.02 over on the
DarkByte blog, and grab the image itself from the bottom of
z00m's page. No idea what the changes are - perhaps someone can post a comment and let me know?

I've mentioned this a couple times in the past, but taken the news down until the site was ready to go live. Well now I believe it is, and is a great opportunity to try out the newly-created
Music topic here on
raww.org.
ZXTunes is a project by Newart to create a large online database of ZX Spectrum Musicians and their works. The site currently lists authors, their music, and software that can be used to create and play the songs, and looking at the stats page is quite comprehensive. Nearly 1000 musicians are included, with over 22000 tunes in all. It's well worth a browse, so go browse. But I'd suggest you avoid
this entry, as the music is just too good, and will ruin your enjoyment of everyone else's work.

It's been about a year since I last noticed an update to ZXMak.net, the .NET-based "cross-platform" ZX emulator, but a chance spot of a post on
zx.pk.ru shows that v1.0.8.0 has been released. The following changes have been made:
- crossplatform source infrastructure
- added simple logging & fatal error report window :)
- fullscreen without change resolution
- fix for StepOver operation in embedded debugger
- some features (fps show, synchronous frame resampling, control speed) temporary removed (not implemented because too many source code rewriten)
Of course the emulator requires downloading of the .NET 2.0 Framework if you don't already have it (Vista users should be ok).
