Over on
Scenergy C-Jeff has uploaded the results and (incomplete) releases from
CC6. I'll cut-n-paste the results below. /me got last place - w00t. I guess being a silent intro didn't help. CPU I think deservedly won the 512b, tho' I'm surprised that "Multi Chaos" came so low in the results... methinks that deserved to place higher. In fact CPU got the top two places in the demo compo also.
I've not checked out the graphics and music releases yet - I'll save that for tomorrow. Read on for full results. Oh and here's the proper release of my losing intro "
point5".
Note: The main CC site has been updated with the results too.

Just spotted another update to
Project AY, the source for
most of your AY-file needs. There's some changes to the text on the pages, mainly clarification of tech info, a change to the project's objectives, etc. And there's also the addition of
AYLet.gp2x to the utilities pages. Thought I'd mention that as it'll please Parky when he comes back to work from his holidays, the lazy slacker ;p

Over on Sergey's
AY Chip page you can find the latest release (v3.6, fact-fans) of the "AY Composer's List" by Alone Coder. It's a list of all the people known to be working on the great AY chip. Of course it may not be complete which is where we come in. Sergey will be keeping the list up-to-date, so if you spot any additions or corrections, contact him for inclusion in the next release.
Note: Oh, it's in Russian. Natch.

I hate to say it, but I completely missed the news of this year's
Kaplicon. Wellll, if people don't tell me about it I just won't know. Anyway you can check out some photos from the event over on
Poke's homepage. It looks much like more scene meets - lots of beer and fighting. Hooray!

This one almost slipped through the net... there's an incredibly minor update to the Windows port of
RealSpectrum - the version this time has changed by +0.00.01, to 0.97.36. I have absolutely no idea what the changes are, so I guess they're simple bugfixes, eh?

Here's some news that I missed from 3 days ago, which is a shame as it's very relevant to collectors of ZX memorabilia... of which there must be a couple who read this site. The news is of the new online shop from the
WOS Preservation Team. The team are bound by a bond of trust and loyalty... or rather they spend cash in order to get rare ZX tapes and discs preserved in the WOS archive. For most people that's a great thing as it means they can go download "perfect TZX" images of their favourite games. But as I say... it all costs money in the form of purchases and postage, which is where the shop comes in. In order to raise cash to buy these rare items, they're selling off a bundle of their duplicate stuff, at fairly good prices. A quick scan through shows they have over well over 600 items for you to peruse and buy. So go look.
Of course... if you have a rare item that needs imaging, they're more than happy to take donations. Ask nicely and they may even send your stuff back :]

Just had a note from
Sintech to mention that this coming weekend (a Bank Holiday in the UK - Yay!) sees
Spectrology in Wittenberg, Germany. I'm not too sure what will be happening, but entrance is free so if you're in the area it certainly won't hurt to pop in.
Also I see that Sintech are doing a special offer on the famous +D clone. It's coming it at 69 euros, which actually works out about the same as buying one from
RWAP. Guess if you want one you can take your pick, eh?

A little while back I reported on
Akton Films, a project with the aim of producing a Sir Clive-based film. The idea seems... odd to say the least, but recent news says that they have a script and actors, and plan to start filming in the second week of September. I'm curious to see the outcome of the project. Partly as it's a curious project. Yes.
More information over at
Akton Films.

For those of you who are keen to write software that supports it (usually in emulators and wotnot), there's a draft of the proposed changes to the
TZX Format online. v1.13 of the spec has been around for years, it seems, and the new v1.20 brings with it new blocks for storing information about tape-sound info, and importantly it deprecates some blocks (C64 blocks, emulation information, ...). Certainly worth a read through. If you have comments I guess you could add them to
this WOS thread.

Interesting article about the quirkiness of USB drives over on
PapayaLabs. Interesting as it turns out that due to an "accident", LaesQ has a working 6Gb CF card sitting in his DivIDE board. 6Gb. Nice. Also, for the odd among you, there's a screenshot of EsxDOS... with a reflection of LaesQ's forehead. Oh yes.
