Greetings all,I'm not a huge fan of putting email addresses online (my spam-to-real-mail ratio is just getting silly), so I'll forward on any emails if you send them through me.
I can now finally confirm that the Micro Mart show will be held at the Birmingham N.E.C on 30th November 2003, and that Simon Brew (Micro Mart's editor) and I are working on the feature area with a strong retro theme.
I am therefore looking for volunteers to work the feature area and set up attractions and display their wares etc... For those of you who volunteered last year, the deal will be similar, accommodation provided, costs covered to an extent etc...
There will be some restrictions, probably mostly down to budget restraints. Firstly, I will need to know everyone who is interested at this stage. I can then work out the best deal for everyone, but I must work on a first come, first serve basis for funding if people are dragging their feet.
Firstly, there will be three main formats (excluding Amiga), which are Commodore 8 bit, Sinclair (& Cambridge if possible) and Atari as I know that these seem to be the most active formats in the retro scene.
I'm looking to implement the following sections;
Mod-shop
Games section
Retro art
Retro arcade
Technical help desk
Retro internet cafe
If you would like further information on the above sections, please contact me. If you have ideas of your own then please feel free to discuss them with me.
The Atari section will probably be run by the same people who organised the UK JagFest this year, but if you have any other ideas regarding this format then this is not a problem as your ideas can probably be incorperated.
Just to say finally that for the Retro arcade, I'm working on getting some old arcade machines (rather than the X-Boxes that where there last year). At the moment, I'm hoping to get hold of Moon Base, Street Fighter II, Ivan "Iron Man" Stuart Super 4x4 Off-Road racer, Sega Multi-tech and Super Space Invaders '91. If you know of any other old arcade games that may be incorperated then please let me know.
Many thanks, Shaun.

MicroMart show requires Retro help
Posted By: icabod, Thursday, September 04, 2003 - 10:03 AM
Yesterday I got an email from Shaun "Ramlink" Bebbington of Retro Mart fame about the upcoming Micro Mart show being held in Birmingham on November 30th. Plans are afoot to have an area based heavily on "Retro" stuff... old 8-bit machines, arcade machines, you get the idea. There's even a plan for a techie help desk. However oganising such an event isn't easy, so Shaun is looking for volunteers to work in the Retro-Zone, run stalls and displays, things of that nature. Hey there's even a chance to get some expenses covered (it'll be like a fun version of a works outing).
